1The opportunity
Over more than a decade, Explain Everything built a loyal community of educators around its whiteboard app, available on all mobile platforms and on the web. As classrooms moved to interactive and hybrid teaching, its collaborative canvas became directly relevant to education technology companies whose hardware sits at the front of the classroom.

NMP professionals advised on the transaction, positioning Explain Everything’s product and educator community as the software layer for a global interactive-display platform.
3Strategic fit
Promethean, an education technology leader with more than 25 years in the market and a strong presence in the US and EMEA, merged the Explain Everything team and platform into its operations and portfolio.
The plan included integrating the whiteboard with Promethean’s interactive panels, so teachers can work on mobile devices and panels at the same time.
4Outcome
Promethean acquired substantially all of the assets of Explain Everything in November 2022. The app, its pricing and its free version stayed in place, the team continued to develop the product, and Explain Everything is now part of Promethean’s software line-up.
